Please read these Terms of Service (“Terms”, “Terms of Service”) carefully before using the bemylawyer.co.uk website (the “Service”) operated by Be My Lawyer (“us”, “we”, or “our”).
Your access to and use of the Service is conditioned on your acceptance of and compliance with these Terms. These Terms apply to all visitors, users and others who access or use the Service.
By accessing or using our Service you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of the terms, then you may not access the Service.

When you create an account with us, you must provide us information that is accurate, complete, and current at all times. Failure to do so constitutes a breach of the Terms, which may result in immediate termination of your account on our Service.
You are responsible for safeguarding the password that you use to access the Service and for any activities or actions under your password, whether your password is with our Service or a third-party service.
You agree not to disclose your password to any third party. You must notify us immediately upon becoming aware of any breach of security or unauthorized use of your account.

Our Service may contain links to third-party web sites or services that are not owned or controlled by Be My Lawyer.
Be My Lawyer has no control over, and assumes no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third party websites or services. You further acknowledge and agree that Be My Lawyer shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with the use of or reliance on any such content, goods or services available on or through any such web sites or services.
We strongly advise you to read the terms and conditions and privacy policies of any third-party web sites or services that you visit.

You are solely responsible for the content, accuracy, and completeness of each Request for Quote you submit to Be My Lawyer, and agree that the information contained shall be true, current and accurate.
You acknowledge that we may edit, modify or remove any parts of a Request for Quotes or terminate your access to our Website without notice.
By providing a Request for Quotes you grant to us a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable and non-exclusive license to use, copy, reproduce, modify, publish, edit, translate, distribute and display the Request for Quotes alone or as part of other works in any form, media, or technology whether now known or hereafter developed. You warrant that you are entitled to grant such a license. You also waive any moral rights you have in Requests for Quotes. Kindly avoid including in any Request for Quotes any information you do not want to grant us permission to use in such manner.
Once you have selected a legal professional, we will not be a party to any contract made between you and any Legal Advisor and therefore we shall not be liable for any loss or damage that results from any dealings between you and any Legal Advisor. It is your responsibility to select a suitable Legal Advisor and to negotiate the terms of any Project to be performed by the Legal Advisor selected.


Be My Lawyer does not charge Individual users for its Services. Instead, we charge Legal professionals a fixed percentage of 10-15% (plus applicable VAT) of any amounts that you pay to them in respect of any works completed and invoiced to you by them within 3 months from the successful referral.

To ensure you have a complete understanding of your rights we would like to direct you to the Regulation Authority Code of Conduct 2011, especially to Chapters 8 and 9 of the SRA Handbook which can be found at http://www.sra.org.uk/solicitors/handbook/code/content.page and which deal with publicity and referral arrangements for the introduction of legal work to solicitors or Barristers.
By continuing to use the Site and/or Services, you confirm your understanding that a referral fee will be paid by the Solicitors or Barristers and the conditions and requirements governing such referral(s).


Nothing in the Terms shall exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or any other liability implicitly applicable by law.

In the unlikely eventuality you are not satisfied with Be My Lawyer, or the terms of the Terms, your only remedy under the Terms shall be to discontinue use of our service. Without limiting the preceding sentence, we shall have no liability for any failure or delay resulting from any matter out of our reasonable control.

Except as expressly set out in the Terms, all conditions, warranties and obligations which may be implied or incorporated into the Terms by statute, common law, or otherwise and any liabilities arising from them are expressly excluded to the extent permitted by law.

We shall not be liable for any loss of business, loss of profits, business interruption, loss of business information, or any other economic loss (even where we have been advised of the possibility of such loss or damage).
In the event that any limitation or exclusion of liability in the Terms is not enforceable, then we shall not be liable to you for more than £600 in aggregate in respect of matters arising out of any individual Request for Legal advice, representation or other services that might be requested within the use of our website.

Each of the provisions of this section 11 (Limitation of Liability) shall be construed separately and independently of the others.

Among its Services, Be My Lawyer provides a one to one legal introduction and referral service by suggesting Legal professionals based on your Request for Quotes. We are not a law firm and we do not provide any legal services and/or legal advice. It is your responsibility to ultimately determine the suitability of the Professionals for any works upon which you subsequently instruct them, whether included in the Request for Quotes or otherwise.

By accepting any Quote from our website you are expressly accepting to be satisfied as to the suitability and abilities of the selected Legal professional, without exception.

We will not be a party to any contract made between you and any Professional and shall not be liable for any loss or damage that may result from any dealings between you and any Legal Professional. It is your responsibility to select a suitable Solicitor or Barrister and to negotiate the terms of any works to be performed by that Professional. You should not engage any Legal Professional or make any deposit or other payment to them without being fully satisfied with your independent findings, negotiation and research.

You will be contracting with a third party who will be providing that product or service to you on their own terms and conditions. You must ensure you understand and agree with those terms and conditions before entering into a contract to obtain that product or service. We are not responsible or liable for any loss or damage you may suffer or incur in connection with the terms and conditions applying to any contract entered into by you with any third party in relation to any product or service or for any acts, omissions, errors or defaults of any third party in connection with those terms and conditions.

Within the Site or Services, we may include information sourced from Solicitors and Barristers, including general news, legal updates and information and profiles of individual Professionals. We do not write or control that information and have no responsibility to you or any person for it. All such information is for general guidance only and is not legal advice. You rely upon such information at your own risk.
In the unlikely event that you have a dispute with Professional, you must address such dispute directly to either the Legal professionals concerned or the Relevant authority (Solicitors Regulation Authority (sra.org.uk) or Bar Association. Whilst we ask to be notified of any dispute as soon as reasonably practicable for information only, we shall have no involvement, connection with or liability in respect of such dispute.

Please be also aware that when you leave our website, other sites may have different privacy policies and terms which are beyond our control. Please be sure to check the Privacy Policies of these sites as well as their “Terms of Service” before engaging in any business or uploading any information.
Engaging Legal Professionals

You are expressly forbidden from replicating any part of our website, including but not limited to our Professional search pattern or enquiry pattern. You acknowledge that all present and future copyright and other intellectual property rights subsisting in, or used in connection with, Be My Lawyer and any part of it (the “Intellectual Property“), including the manner in which our website is presented or appears and all information and documentation relating to it, is our property (or that of our licensors) this means you irrevocably agree not to copy, reproduce, modify, create derivative works from, distribute or publicly display any content from the Site or Services without our prior written permission and unreservedly indemnify Be My Lawyer in the event that you do so, for the consequences of such misuse kindly refer to the termination Paragraph Below.
Nothing in these Terms shall be taken to transfer any of the Intellectual Property to you.

Solely for the purposes of using the Site and Services, we hereby grant to you for the period during which Be My Lawyer is provided a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Intellectual Property, if be required.

We may terminate or suspend access to our Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach the Terms, this does not stop us in any way from the pursuit of other legal remedies as we might think fit given the specific situation.
All provisions of the Terms which by their nature should survive termination shall survive termination, including, without limitation, ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnity and limitations of liability.
We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach the Terms.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. If you wish to terminate your account, you may simply discontinue using the Service.
All provisions of the Terms which by their nature should survive termination shall survive termination, including, without limitation, ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnity and limitations of liability.

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of United Kingdom, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights. If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable by a court, the remaining provisions of these Terms will remain in effect. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between us regarding our Service, and supersede and replace any prior agreements we might have between us regarding the Service.
We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will try to provide at least 30 days notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion.
By continuing to access or use our Service after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms. If you do not agree to the new terms, please stop using the Service.
